NY BANNED NATURAL GAS IN NEW BUILDINGS
In the US, residential buildings account for 10% of greenhouse gas emissions.

Electrification of homes can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality. Electrification involves switching homes from natural gas-powered appliances to electric appliances, such as electric furnaces and electric water heaters. Renewable energy sources can power these electric appliances, reducing the dependence on fossil fuels.

The International Energy Agency estimates that by electrifying the buildings sector, we can reduce global emissions by 4.5 gigatons per year by 2050. Go, New York, go!
