With active processing and storage facilities and a clear pathway toward cost reduction and expansion, Graphyte is entering its next phase of growth; optimizing plant operations, strengthening engineering systems, and scaling durable carbon removal across additional sites.

The Role

The Process Engineer will be responsible for engineering support and optimization of Graphyte’s Processing and Storage facilities in Central Arkansas. This person will work closely with the operations and manufacturing teams to identify and execute on opportunities for process improvement including cost savings. Additionally, this role will support plant expansion, cost modeling, equipment startup and commissioning, and system monitoring and automation.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical ability and the ability to independently solve problems in an operating facility.

Experience in process and or project engineering in solid waste management, hazardous waste containment, grain handling, wood pelleting, food processing, or similar industrial environments is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and execute cost savings and process improvement opportunities at both the Graphyte Processing Facility (Pine Bluff, AR) and the Graphyte Storage Site (Sheridan, AR).
  • Provide troubleshooting support for process, equipment, and reliability issues.
  • Support design, installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment and plant modifications.
  • Support automation, controls, and monitoring systems in coordination with external contractors.
  • Develop and maintain PFDs, P&IDs, and Standard Operating Procedures for new and modified equipment.
  • Address equipment reliability, production downtime, and quality issues using structured problem-solving approaches.
  • Work with the R&D team on cost modeling, validation testing and deployment of new processes at Graphyte facilities.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a process, project, or commissioning engineer in an industrial or manufacturing environment (Mechanical, Civil or Chemical Engineering preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to independently solve technical problems in a plant or industrial setting.
  • Experience supporting design improvements, equipment selection, and commissioning activities.
  • Interest and ability to integrate AI into optimization activities
  • Working knowledge of PFD and P&ID development.
  • Familiarity with electrical field devices (limit switches, flow sensors, solenoid valves, proximity switches).
  • Familiarity with gas flow equipment including valves and pressure transducers.
  • Experience coordinating contractors and vendors, including field supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with operations personnel, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
