Supporting Catalysts

Technology Analyst, Deep Tech & Federal Funding

The Company

Our client is a technology and government advisory firm. They help companies in semiconductors, critical minerals, nuclear, advanced manufacturing, quantum, and grid technology win large non-dilutive federal and state funding (DOE, DOD, Commerce/CHIPS, NSF, state incentive programs) and shape the policy around it. More than $3.7B secured for clients to date.

‍

This is a communication-heavy technical role, not a lab or software role. You will take complex technology and turn it into white papers, grant applications, briefings, and decks that win funding. If you left the bench because you'd rather explain the science than run the experiment, this is the fit for you.

‍

The Role

This high exposure role will provide independent technology research and analyses, including qualitative and quantitative analysis of fundamental scientific principles and their impact on devices and systems related to client projects. This will involve learning and explaining technologies in fields that are both familiar and unfamiliar to you, so you must be a quick learner.

‍

  • You will keep up to date with program developments within the government such as DOE, DOD, Department of Commerce, NSF, and relevant state programs
  • You will provide background support and preparation for the creation of technical presentations, collateral, concept papers, white papers, grant applications, and RFP responses for clients and government customers, including background research and the preparation of initial draft deliverables
  • You will assist in client deliverables (both preparation and follow-up activities) and participate in client meetings and subsequent client strategy discussions
  • You will assist in planning and executing firm initiatives (e.g. conferences, events, team deliverables) and manage meeting schedules and client deliverable schedules, to ensure timely execution
  • You will assist with the creation of quantitative technical and performance value-propositions for various client technologies in application areas being targeted within the government
  • You will prepare internal technical memos and presentations and weekly internal and external client summary reports

‍

About You

  • You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a hard science or engineering (e.g. materials science, physics, physical chemistry, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, nuclear engineering, or similar)
  • You have excellent writing, oral communication, critical thinking, and quantitative analytical skills
  • You have the ability to think creatively and independently about how to solve new problems or apply technologies to new applications
  • You are a self-starter, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • You have the ability to quickly adapt to change and you are able to work on multiple projects simultaneously

Bonus points

  • You have experience in the semiconductor / critical minerals / nuclear / advanced manufacturing / materials science space
  • You have worked in or alongside a government agency, policy team, or grant-writing organization
