The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) defines nature-based solutions as “actions to protect, sustainably manage, and restore natural or modified ecosystems, that address societal challenges effectively and adaptively, simultaneously providing human well-being and biodiversity benefits.”
In simple terms, a nature-based solution in ClimateTech is any technology that enhances or stabilizes nature’s way of drawing down carbon. These solutions protect, restore, and manage ecosystems to enhance their resiliency which in turn protects biodiversity and human wellbeing.
Nature-based solutions range from reforestation innovation to kelp farms, and everything in between.
