Carbon Technology

Direct Air Capture - Systems Engineer - Liquid Solvent Systems

The Company

We've partnered with a well-funded Bay-Area climate-tech startup building an economically disruptive direct-air-capture (DAC) system to market.

This multidisciplinary team  is moving fast and looking for a skilled DAC Systems Engineer with previous experience scaling from lab to pilot and beyond. If you thrive in an collaborative, agile and mission-driven environment, we’d love to meet you.

Your Impact (Responsibilities)

  • Design, develop, and optimize air-contactor and liquid-handling systems for high-efficiency CO₂ capture.
  • Lead prototype, pilot-scale and full-scale system design and deployment—everything from concept through commissioning.
  • Select materials and components with a keen eye on chemical compatibility, durability, and cost.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with chemistry, stack-design, and mechanical-engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and performance.

About You

  • Degree: B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Mechanical, Chemical, Systems, or Process Engineering.
  • Experience: 3+ years designing DAC, carbon-capture, or other large-scale fluid-handling systems.
  • Technical Expertise: Hands-on design of air–liquid contactor systems, ideally with alkaline solvents (KOH, NaOH, amines).
  • Scale-up Success: Proven track record taking hardware from prototype to pilot to commercial scale.
  • Nice-to-Have: Background with pioneering DAC organizations or equivalent large-scale projects
