The Company
A well-funded Bay-Area climate-tech startup that is re-engineering electrochemical systems to create a new and exciting approach to carbon capture. Backed by top investors, the team is looking to blend deep electrochemistry expertise with rapid in-house prototyping so ideas move from CAD to pilot hardware in weeks.
Your Impact (Responsibilities)
As the Electrochemical Stack Engineer & Machine-Shop Manager you flex both your engineering and fabrication muscles. You will:
- Design, prototype, and iterate full electrochemical stacks for flow-battery and fuel-cell architectures
- Select membranes, seals, and structural materials for chemical compatibility and durability
- Build out and run an on-site machine shop (CNC, 3-D printing, laser cutting) to enable rapid hardware turns
- Partner with R&D and test engineers to translate bench insights into scalable stack designs
About You
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Mechanical, Electrochemical, or related Engineering field
- 3 + years hands-on experience designing and fabricating electrochemical stacks (flow batteries, fuel cells, or similar)
- Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.) and GD&T; comfortable generating production drawings
- Skilled with CNC machining, rapid-prototyping tools, and general machine-shop workflows
- Bonus: prior work on flow-battery or fuel-cell stacks and familiarity with membrane & seal materials selection
