The Role

Climate People has been retained by Graphyte to identify a Director / Vice President of Commercial to help scale their commercial activities. This role will focus on building upon Graphyte’s strong commercial foundation to accelerate revenue growth, developing relationships with corporate buyers and partners, and supporting execution of carbon credit offtake agreements.

The Director / VP of Commercial will leverage Graphyte’s existing commercial traction to accelerate revenue growth and will work closely with internal stakeholders across project development, finance, and engineering to support Graphyte’s next phase of growth. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Commercial execution: Support and execute Graphyte’s commercial strategy to scale carbon removal credit sales across corporate buyers and partners.
  • Pipeline development: Build and manage a high-quality pipeline of prospective carbon credit buyers, focusing primarily on the voluntary carbon market; develop targeted outreach strategies to generate new leads.
  • Buyer engagement: Lead customer meetings, prepare pitch materials, and manage buyer engagement from initial outreach through offtake execution.
  • Deal support: Structure, negotiate, and close carbon credit offtake agreements in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Go-to-market enablement: Develop and refine customer-facing materials, messaging, and sales collateral to support consistent execution across the funnel.
  • Partnerships & channels: Support development of partnerships with brokers, marketplaces, and ecosystem partners to expand Graphyte’s commercial reach.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Coordinate closely with project development, finance, and engineering teams to align customer commitments with delivery capabilities.
  • Market feedback and learning: Capture learnings from buyer conversations and active opportunities to continuously refine commercial strategy and execution. Share market feedback with internal teams to align other functions with customer priorities, including technology development, engineering, operations, and finance. 
  • New revenue strategies: Unlock new revenue strategies beyond the voluntary carbon market, including compliance carbon market opportunities. 

About You

​You are someone who knows how to drive revenue growth, ideally with significant experience in the transition to a low-carbon economy.  You may be someone with deep expertise in the carbon dioxide removal market, coming from the supply or demand side.  You might be a proven business developer in other sectors in the low-carbon economy, looking to transition into durable carbon dioxide removal.  Or you may be a hungry seller looking to help make actual reductions in atmospheric CO2 levels. 

Qualifications

  • Highly motivated and deeply passionate about addressing climate change
  • 8–12+ years of experience in commercial roles such as business development, partnerships, enterprise sales, commercial strategy, or revenue operations
  • Demonstrated success sourcing, structuring, and supporting complex B2B deals
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Significant experience developing PowerPoint presentations and Excel models
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment

Location: Hybrid / Remote - US-based 

Salary: Commensurate with experience and skillset 

Reports to: Chief Commercial Officer  | Supports: CEO & Leadership Team

Travel: 25% travel to support commercial priorities
